As part of the Australia Council for the Arts’ career building initiative, more than 100 grants of up to $10,000 each are available for artists who have graduated from an accredited artist training scheme within the last three years or are about to graduate.
Applicants can use the grants to, among other things, develop skills, rent studio space or tools, get expert business advice, expand their marketing and promotional skills or put together a portfolio. Jewellers, writers, musicians, theatre directors and a circus performer are among the 200 artists who
have used the grants to build the foundations of a sustainable career since the Australia Council launched ArtStart in September 2009.
