The Synapse Database contains comprehensive information on collaborative projects between artists and scientists. Such projects include the research, development and production of work through residency programs and other means, as well as exhibitions and publications concerned with this interdisciplinary practice.

The Synapse Residencies place Australian artists into science and research settings to pursue collaborative projects with benefits accruing to both the resident and the host organisation. 2007/08 was the third year of the project and the first year that artists were placed within organisations outside of Australia.

Arts Victoria’s Arts Innovation program provides support for professional artists to undertake a project with partners in other fields to share their respective knowledge and expertise. In 2007/08, ANAT partnered with Arts Victoria to deliver a further three residencies for artists within science/research settings.
