CALL FOR ELECTRONIC, RADIO PHONIC AND MULTIMEDIA WORKS

Art Of Sounds
Guarnerius, the Center of Arts, announces 1st annual Festival of Electronic, Radiophonic and Multimedia works, “Art of Sounds”, to be held on December 25-28, 2008, at the Guarnerius, the Center of Arts in Belgrade, Serbia.

Submissions have to include:
1. CD or DVD, labeled with the name of the author, title of the piece and track number.
2. Written submission with:
? The name of the author, contact information (mailing address, e-mail, phone number) and institutional affiliation.
? The work title, media (Electronic, Radiophonic and Multimedia) and length.
? Biography and program notes of 250 words or less in MSWord.
? Written agreement to perform your work at the festival, taking place in the hall of Guarnerius, The Center of Arts. *

The submitted works may be of any duration. Submission of multiple works is encouraged.

By multimedia we mean works that experiment with the synthesis of different disciplines and media, and where the artistic concept and form of expression are centered around sound. In order to suggest some examples without restricting other possible forms of artistic expression, we invite submissions of video, performance, experimental film, interactive environments and installations, and other different forms of what are often called New Media.

Please note:
The organizer is not in a position to provide facilities for the production and exhibition of complex installation works, and so authors in this category are invited to submit DVD video-documentaries (with or without narration). Experimental film and video works should also be submitted in DVD format.
Note: The submission material, including CDs and DVDs will not be returned.
Submission Deadline: November 30, 2008 (postmarked).

Applicants will be notified of the program committee’s decision via e-mail by December 15th, 2008.

*IMPORTANT INFORMATION!
We are not able to pay for performance of the works at the festival in Guarnerius - The Center of Arts. We need your written agreement for the performance of your work exclusively for this occasion.

Experimental Music: audio explorations in Australia, should be available late November.

Written by artists, producers and participants in alternative music-making, and including a companion CD, Experimental Music: audio explorations in Australia explores the development of forms, ideas and scenes from the 1970s to the present.

Edited by Gail Priest, with articles written by: Julian Knowles, Ian Andrews with John Blades. Cat Hope. Shannon O’Neill, Bo Daley, Alistair Riddell, Jim Denley, Virginia Madsen, Sean Bridgeman.
The book brings together a wide range of musical experimentation, from post-punk, noise, appropriation, electronic dance and listening music, to free improv, computer process music, experimental radio, instrument building and audiovisual fusions.

To accompany the book, a website www.experimentalmusicaustralia.net has been created to bring together information about experimental music and sound in Australia. There are 3 features that invite your input:

National Calendar: a web-based calendar (it’s a little bit ugly, but it’s free), to bring together listings from across the country. So if you have a gig, festival, exhibition, conference etc that you’d like listed you can send through information. If you produce multiple events or series you can have editing access.

Artist Directory: Hopefully a comprehensive map of people working in experimental music and sound across Australia. If you would like to be included, download the form, fill it in, and email back, or contact for further information.

Resource List: This is a mega links list starting with information drawn from the book on all things experimental music from gigs, organisations, online journals and a bibliography. Already an unwieldy monster, feel free to send through additions/suggestions.
