The Experimental Art Foundation has a galvanising and catalytic role within the contemporary visual arts and we are seeking an experienced, driven, articulate and committed individual to lead the EAF at this exciting time in its development.
The applicant will have a positive and distinctive perspective on contemporary art, a thorough knowledge of local and international art practices, and have experience as a curator and initiator of art projects. The ideal candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant field, have relevant industry experience and have strong sector support. The EAF has a strong publications record, critical writing and editorial skills will therefore be highly valued.
The EAF's mission is to assist, promote and develop, through production, exhibition, distribution and the encouragement of debate, art and art practices that are analytical, critical and experimental, which challenge established thinking and expand cultural language and discussion.
The EAF incorporates a large and flexible gallery, a specialist bookshop and artist studios. It presents a varied high-calibre and innovative artistic program comprising gallery-based and special projects, workshops, talks and symposia, performances, the production of catalogues and special publications, a major website and online projects.
The EAF plays a central role in the professional development of artists from South Australia, contextualising their work at a national and international level and facilitating professional and philosophical exchange between artists and arts professionals globally.
