Find Anode; a new fringe art event inspired by Node London, Next Wave festival in Melbourne and the inspiring public art interventions of Creative Time in New York.  From Thursday 25th to Sunday 28th, September Anode will connect various nodes of practice across Sydney through art, music, excursions, shows and installations.  Over 250 artists, musicians and performers will take over galleries, venues, shop front windows, a public car park and bars around the clock in this jam packed, mostly free program.

It all starts with 10 x 10 a virtual bookshelf revealing 200 interesting books and films curated by Kate Crawford and Marcus Westbury featuring their selected array of film makers, artists, musicians and cultural theorists who have delved deep in to their collections to pick out the gems.  This social recommender come exhibition kicks off the program at the launch party on Thursday 25th at boutique Surry Hills bar, Sticky.  The night continues in to the wee hours down the road at Glamour pour le Hammer, group home for Sydney's mavericks and misfits with resident DJ Jack Shit (FBi) plus performances by Christa Hughes and Faggot Rooster - the ultimate antidote to Sydney's dated scene-queens.

Check out featured exhibitions, Art Groupie at the Tap Gallery, Virginia Mawer at Kudos Gallery and the Terminal projection window as part of the 2042: Art On The Street Festival, King Street Newtown.

Art Groupie an exhibition of art by musicians including Ben Ely (Regurgitator), Mick Turner (The Dirty Three) and 26 others is hosting a free launch party with live performances by exhibiting artists Steve Kilbey and All India Radio at the Tap Gallery, Friday 26th September from 8.00pm.

Do something different with your Saturday, head out on a free public art excursion starting at the steps near the water fountain in Hyde Park and follow the sound underground through to the Domain Carpark where you will find a multi-artform party, complete with pop-up bar, cafe, mini-cinema, 20 piece improvisation ensemble The Splinter Orchestra.  This 'Field Trip' also features a live art making project of an 8 metre Urban Dragon installation that will come to life with live drumming, choreographed dancers, projection and performance, presented by View Of Courage Studios.  You can also see animation by Melbourne based artist Ingird K Brooker, unorthodox travel photography by Alex Crowfoot  and a public art intervention by French Canadian artist Martin Renaud, performances by Token Imagination a portable city installation by Perran Costi and much much more.  The party continues til dawn at the Abbercrombie Hotel with multi-lingual DJ / VJ crew, Uber Lingua on Saturday 27th from 10pm.

The program culminates in a huge finale party at the Oxford Art Factory on Sunday 28th featuring, bands, Japanese Tattoo, a bed of nails, DJ's, VJ's, dancers and spoken word.  Over 25 artists will come together to fill every corner of the venue with bizarre and enlightening performances by the 4 O'Clock Dancers, DJ's Booty Bruisers, Remixing History interactive DJ/VJ project and Craig Schuftan presents 'A Night At The Opera'.  Plus the Exquisite Corpse sideshow features Danger Boy and Ivy magic show with live bands Naked On The Vague and Cleptoclectics.  Tickets are strictly limited and are on sale now through Moshtix.
