Electronic arts collective Clan Analogue presents Institute of Sound, a new series of monthly electronic music production workshops, on Monday the 29th of September, 7pm, at Horse Bazaar, 397 Little Lonsdale St in the city.

Each month a new guest presenter will examine a particular aspect of electronic music performance and production, including live demonstrations and a Q&A session.  This will be followed with a live performance and an opportunity for members of the audience to take part in hands-on jamming.

This month, on Monday the 29th of September at 7pm, Institute of Sound examines the art of video, with a session entitled VJing, Mashup and Live Video Art, presented by three of Melbourne's leading video artists, Jonty Burton, Mr Pike and Jean Poole, as part of the Digital Fringe.  From Varese's Poeme Electronique installation created for the 1958 Brussels World Fair through to today's dance party projections and gallery video installations, live visuals have had a symbiotic relationship with electronic music.  This workshop examines different aspects of modern video performance art.  Following the workshop will be a live video set accompanied by DJs Chosen and figital. and a hands-on session for audience members to learn the skills of VJing.  Digital Fringe entries will be available for remix. Entry to the workshop is free.

The Institute of Sound will continue on the last Monday of each month. Upcoming sessions later this year are:

27th of October: Techniques &Technologies from Electronic Music History – Robert Boehm & Jeremy Smith (Winduptoys)

24th of November: Audio Mastering – Martin Koszolko (Koshowko)
