Madeleine Flynn and Tim Humphrey are recipients of a 2008 Synapse residency, supported by ANAT in association with the Australia Council for the Arts, the Australian government’s arts funding and advisory body.
Their residency is a collaboration with Dr Shane Grey of the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, whose research focuses on the how and why of the immune system’s attack on body tissues during the rejection of organ grafts and in autoimmune disorders such as Type I diabetes. Through the project, the artists are examining the potential for the sonification of data to expand the research effort. The blog tracks the progress of the project.
