DAY 2 :: CONVERSE
Friday 3 October, 9am – 6.45pm
The day will begin with an experiential Welcome to Country with Kabi Kabi (Gubbi Gubbi) Elder Aunty Helena Gulash, followed by a keynote with artist, activist and academic r e a, from the Gamilaraay / Wailwan and Biripi Peoples of New South Wales.
Reflect on the impact of art and how reciprocal approaches can shape and inform creative ideas with small group conversations guided by Melissa DeLaney (ANAT), Nicholas Marchesi (A Curious Tractor), Ana Tiquia (ANAT Board), and Michèle Saint-Yves (ANAT Board).
After lunch, we’ll get an update from The Gold.Phone with thematics code-curated and projected large-scale. Caitlin Franzmann will then guide us through a collective reading using The tide times, a deck of intertidal ecosystem divination cards created in collaboration with the Australasian Mangrove and Saltmarsh Network.
Feed your curiosity by listening to the Reciprocity Panel. Chaired by Ana Tiqua (ANAT Board and All Tomorrow’s Futures), with Jen Rae (Bilya) and Vicki Saunders (Yimbaya Maranoa Arts Collective), the discussion will address how reciprocity based models of collaboration can shape a better future.
Immerse yourself in a screening of Raŋipuy: coming from the beach by Miyarrka Media, followed by a 15-minute discussion with Enid Wunungmurra, Meredith Balanydjarrk, Victoria Baskin Coffey and Jennifer Deger from the creative team, and listen to artists Rosalyn Boko, Lisa Steffanof and Johnathon Daw discuss the creation of Winimaku Ara Papa Wiimatjaraku and the power of storytelling.
Throughout the day, quiet spaces will be available for retreat, reflection and rest.
In addition to the Art Gallery, screen-based works and installations can be experienced across campus. Download a map and find your own way or join a SPECTRA tour.
